Lodi Memorial Children’s Emergency Department Remodel Have you ever taken your child to the emergency room, or maybe you visited the E.R. as a child? Hospitals can be a strange and foreign place, especially for your little ones. With this in mind, the Leadership Lodi Class of 2016 in Partnership with the Lodi Memorial Hospital Foundation seeks to remodel a portion of the Lodi Memorial Emergency Room waiting area and several Emergency Rooms to make the experience more inviting for your little ones. Leadership Lodi, a year-long mentor program offered through the Lodi Chamber of Commerce, has selected the LMH ED Remodel for their 2016 project. Fund raising, design, construction and fixturization will be done in partnership with the Lodi Memorial Hospital Foundation. To support this effort donations are being collected from the community. To donate please go to: http://www.gofundme.com/LodiChildrensER or call the Foundation office at 209-339-7833.

The 32nd annual Summerfest food and wine event was held at Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi Winery on Saturday, July 16th. It was a grand success with over 300 people in attendance. Sixteen local food purveyors provided remarkable dishes, Woodbridge provided the wine and Stephanie D Trio the entertaiment. We again we had art from the hospital available for sponsorship along side something new, a bean bag toss for special wines. For the second year, several classic cars were on display, including LH Board member Jeff Kirst’s 1941 Linconln convertible and Dr. Hilton’s ’72 Chevy Chevelle SS. SummerFest is one of the three annual fundraising events for the hospital and is organized by Foundation Events Director, Carolyn Hoff. Proceeds from this event will go towards equipment for the LH OB Dept. We thank all of our sponsors, volunteers and guests for keeping this important tradition going. A Special thank you go to Dr. Carolyn Fowle, who was our Platinum Sponsor for 2016.

After reviewing over a dozen projects at their annual retreat, the Leadership Lodi Class of 2016 selected the Lodi Health Emergency Room remodel for their 2016 class project. The remodel will involve two examination rooms and a portion of the lobby redesigned exclusively for children. These physical changes will complement the new Pediatric Express program implemented in the ER to provide quicker treatment for children under eight years old. The lobby will be remodeled with a jungle theme and include activities for children during the visit. The project will be done in collaboration with the Lodi Memorial Hospital Foundation. Thank you Leadership Lodi. Donations from the community can be made here: www.gofundme.com/LodiChildrensER. See the Lodi News Sentinel article here: http://tinyurl.com/j8us62x.
Kevin Wolf, Men’s Group leader and Ernie Micelli, club manager of the Woodbridge Golf and Country Club, presented a check for the second year in a row to the Foundation for support of cancer treatment. The Men’s Group collects funds from its membership to support an organization in the community that deals with cancer and cancer victims. These funds will be used in the hospital Palliative Care Program in which a number of seniors battle various forms of life-shortening cancer. Thank you to all of the Men’s Group members for their support. Lodi Memorial Hospital Foundation directors Sherry Cota and Dr. Ken Mullen recently received awards from the Lodi Chamber of Commerce at the annual awards dinner held January 21st at Wine and Roses. Dr. Mullen was selected as Citizen of the Year for his extensive volunteerism to Lodi and his past service as a Lodi Unified School District board member, countless civic taskforce committees, team doctor for Lodi High School sports and nearly 40 years of medical practice in Lodi. Dr. Mullen represents the best example of true philanthropy in our community. He continues to serve guiding the Palliative Care program at Lodi Health and as a current board member of the Foundation. Sherry Cotta and her husband Joe were selected as Agribusiness of the Year not only for their agricultural products and board service on the Winegrape commission and Chamber but also for their volunteer work through Rotary International and Lodi Memorial Hospital Foundation. The Cottas have been great supporters of the Foundation and serve at every event. Sherry is also the co-chair of the Public Relations Committee overseeing Foundation events. “We are honored and fortunate to have such committed and impactful leaders on our Foundation Board and we have developed a bit of a tradition with Randy Snider, immediate past president of the Foundation, also winning Citizen of the Year in 2014”, stated Wayne Craig, Executive Director.
Lodi Health has been awarded a Top Performer ranking from the Joint Commission, the agency that inspects and certifies hospital throughout the nation. This top tier ranking is a national designation and places Lodi Memorial Hospital as one of the best healthcare facilities. No other hospital in San Joaquin County has achieved this ranking. Congratulations to the staff and management for keeping patients first and working so hard to improve healthcare in our community.
On December 11, 2015, some forty directors and managers of Lodi Health and Lodi Memorial Hospital Foundation completed a two-day leadership retreat. At 11:15 hospital CEO, Daniel Wolcott formed six teams and each person on the team was given a new $100 bill. The assignment was to go to lunch as a team and buy gifts for Christmas to be exchanged upon return. As with most gift exchanges there was a variety of offerings, but what happened that day was truly special.
Several teams opted to give their funds to support others. One team spent their time driving all over Lodi supporting causes and people that have fewer opportunities than most. Here is a list of the donations made within one hour:
The Lodi Memorial Hospital Foundation has received the 2015 award for Philanthropic Organization of the Year from the Association of Fundraising Professionals. Diane Vigil, representing the Capital Chapter-San Joaquin Extension of AFP noted in her presentation that the Lodi Memorial Hospital Foundation was chosen for its commitment to fund raising, professional ethics, length of service and beneficial impact to the Lodi Memorial Hospital and the community at large. Wayne Craig, Executive Director of the Lodi Memorial Hospital Foundation, accepted the award and commented that “It was a humbling honor to be selected from nearly 200 charities in the area and to be recognized for work done by some many before this time.” He further stated, “The hospital has been donor-supported for over 63-years and the Foundation has been around for 35-years and will continue to serve with new and expanded opportunities for our loyal donors.” |
