The 27th Walk for the Health of It was held on May 13, 2017 at Lodi Memorial Hospital with some 1500 attending which was the largest crowd ever. Participants visited 26 fun and informational booths that included free cholesterol screening, heart monitoring, nutrition education, photo booth, free coffee and donuts and personal massage. A new High Striker was built to test your ability to hammer the bell. A special booth was filled with information about the new First Day Capital Campaign to develop a Level II NICU to care for births as much as 5-weeks premature and in another booth slightly used sneakers were collected for the Salvation Army.
The day began with Jazzercise of Lodi warming up the crowd for the 27th consecutive year before the Kids One-Mile Fun Run. followed by Cross Fit of Lodi stretching everyone for the traditional 5K Walk Run and 10K Run. Immediately following was the infamous Walk & Roll where Tokay High School Football team members pushing our seniors in wheelchairs around the one-mile course. As the event is held on Mother’s Day Weekend several generations walked together along with their pets. Funds raised from the event will go to the First Day Capital Campaign. Platinum Level Sponsors

Mike Georguson Foundation Vice Chairman has been selected as the 2017 Outstanding Citizen of the Year by the Lodi Chamber of Commerce. Mike’s resume of service to our community is exceptional and his leadership on many boards has proven his unending commitment to making Lodi better. Whether it is the Boys and Girls Club, Teen 180 Center, Chamber of Commerce, First Baptist Church, Mexico Mission Group or the Lodi Memorial Hospital Foundation you can find Mike making a difference. We are proud to have him as the incoming Chairman for the Foundation and to continue the legacy of three previous winners also on our board. Mike will receive official recognition on January 26th at the annual Chamber Awards Dinner. LMHF has begun to shoot a series of videos to be posted on the website, Facebook and video sites to promote the mission and fund-raising programs of the Foundation. This, our first, video involves a little girl who ends up in the Emergency Room and through the good work of the medical staff and proper equipment, funded by donors like yourself, is healed and returns to a happy life on the playground. Shooting a simple one-minute video is not that different from a feature film and requires lots of preparation and convincing actors. Central casting could not have found a better family to represent our characters than the Hillstroms. Look for the finished production to be released before the end of the year. Dear Dr. De La Cruz, I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the excellent care, open communication and compassion you gave me during my recent stay at Lodi Memorial Hospital. This visit was life-threatening and because of the professional ER nurses and your care I survived yet again. As you may know I have been a frequent flyer at LMH over the last seven years but I want to say that there has been a steady improvement in the care, handling and services at the hospital but this was by far the best experience. I understand that you have only recently joined the Lodi Health medical team so I hope you receive many more of these letters, as you deserve. Your efforts and the nurses and staff supporting you made my recover quick and painless. I live to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Sincerely, Mike Marling The highly successful mortgage brokerage team of Blake Eagal at Summit Funding has selected LMHF as their charity for the month of September. The Eagal Team policy is to support charities in our local community and once a month they donate a portion of each loan closing for such gifts. We really appreciate firms like Summit Funding and leaders like Black Eagal who remember that community means we all pitch in. Their donation will go to support a variety of equipment purchases and supplies for children in our Emergency Department. Thank you Team Eagal for sharing your success where it makes a difference.
Germaine Burke of Burke Optometry in Lodi stopped by to view the art they sponsored at Lodi Memorial Hospital. Several artworks remain available for sponsorship and donors will be recognized on a small plaque adjacent to the artwork along with the artist and title of the piece. If you are interested in sponsoring art, please contact the Foundation office at 209-339-7833.
Dr. Jack and Jaquilyn Gilliland view the plaque they purchased to honor their parents. Dr. Gilliland worked with Lodi Memorial Hospital in the 1970s and 1980s and had a private practice in Lodi before moving to Kaiser Permanente where he became Physician In Chief for almost twenty years. The Gilliland Family has old roots in Lodi and placing a plaque on the Tribute Wall assures future generations will connect the legacy.
Tom and Sandy Stokes recently purchased two large plaques to honor their family and to continue their family legacy of supporting Lodi Memorial Hospital. Tom’s father was one of the early founders of the hospital. Sharon Stokes (daughter) represented the younger generation and exhibits how important families are to a community
