The 27th Walk for the Health of It was held on May 13, 2017 at Lodi Memorial Hospital with some 1500 attending which was the largest crowd ever. Participants visited 26 fun and informational booths that included free cholesterol screening, heart monitoring, nutrition education, photo booth, free coffee and donuts and personal massage. A new High Striker was built to test your ability to hammer the bell. A special booth was filled with information about the new First Day Capital Campaign to develop a Level II NICU to care for births as much as 5-weeks premature and in another booth slightly used sneakers were collected for the Salvation Army.
The day began with Jazzercise of Lodi warming up the crowd for the 27th consecutive year before the Kids One-Mile Fun Run. followed by Cross Fit of Lodi stretching everyone for the traditional 5K Walk Run and 10K Run. Immediately following was the infamous Walk & Roll where Tokay High School Football team members pushing our seniors in wheelchairs around the one-mile course. As the event is held on Mother’s Day Weekend several generations walked together along with their pets. Funds raised from the event will go to the First Day Capital Campaign.
